Every year I comment that this year´s auction was the best ever. This year it really was. Not only did we raise more funds for the children of the garbage dump than ever before ($80,000 in one night!). But also because we worked hard as a team to help people from the church and community in Redmond to really connect with and get to know the project in Honduras.
We hung life-sized posters of the children around the silent auction. We displayed crafts made by the people of Honduras that were available to bid on. We showed a video telling some of the children´s stories. We offered an annual report chronicling the change taking place in Tegucigalpa-with your help.
Thanks to Pastor Linda, Cathy Baird, Jannette, and the many others who worked hard and gave of themselves this last year. Thanks to everyone who participated in the auction to make this miracle happen!
Not only will we able to continue feeding the 150 children at AFE for one more year, we can also purchase a small bus to take them on field trips to expand their world view. And, perhaps we can now begin to invest legally to persuade the government of Honduras to enforce their law that no child should be allowed in the garbage dump.
